CALL FOR ENTRIES: TELEVISION ACADEMY HONORS
Recognizing Achievement in Issues Programming

North Hollywood, CA – The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is accepting entries until January 15, 2009, for the second Television Academy Honors ceremony being held on April 30 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Television Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner announced today.
The awards recognize “television with a conscience,” programs that benefit society through the presentation of compelling, emotional and insightful issues.
“We expect to see the number of entries grow from last year’s strong slate of submissions, given the tremendous amount of culturally enlightening and educational programming produced during 2008 that made a positive impact on society,” Shaffner says.
During last season's well-attended, star-studded inaugural Television Academy Honors gala, recipients included HBO's Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq;ABC's Boston Legal; Lifetime's Girl, Positive; CNN's God's Warriors;NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; Hallmark's Pictures of Hollis Woods; Discovery's Planet Earth; Lifetime's Side Order of Life;and Showtime's Shame.
Eligible programs are those airing from Jan. 1, 2008-Dec. 31, 2008. Entries will be accepted until Jan.15 by the Television Academy’s Awards Department. Honorees will be announced March 19.
Entries may be submitted for fiction/nonfiction as a whole series, a single episode or for a story arc up to three episodes.
There is a limit of one entry per series.
Made-for-television movies, miniseries and fiction/nonfiction specials are also eligible to apply for the Television Academy Honors.
There is a processing fee of $100 per entry.
