Kate Linder began portraying Esther Valentine on CBS’ The Young and the Restless, the top-rated soap opera, over 26 years ago. In 2005, Linder was elected governor of the Television Academy’s Daytime Programming Peer Group, and was reelected to a second term. On April 10, 2008, Linder received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In her spare time, Linder remains a 30-year veteran United Airlines flight attendant, a job she took after graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in Theatre. In addition to Y&R, Linder continues to work in theater and films and completed a feature film in 2007. Linder is the celebrity spokesperson for The ALS Association, which she became involved with following a relative’s diagnosis, and she is active with the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Los Angeles, the Optimists Club and with the Los Angeles Mission. She is also a founding board member of Television Cares, the Television Academy’s AIDS awareness and fundraising charity. She made four trips to visit American troops with the USO with her friend, the late Johnny Grant. In 1976, she married Ron Linder on Valentine’s Day.

David Michaels began working as an actor and a model at age seventeen. He worked steadily until he became a contestant on a game show, when an immediate fascination with daytime television led to his first production job with Bob Stewart Productions. He rose quickly from production assistant to producer, doing over twenty-five pilots and air shows. Most notably, Michaels produced The $25,000 Pyramid and $100,000 Pyramid, garnering multiple nominations and two Daytime Emmy Awards. He also produced Pictionary for the late Dan Enright. Transitioning into the talk show world, Michaels produced such shows as Vicki! (for which he earned two Emmy nominations), Leeza (which resulted in two more nominations, including one for writing), Caryl and Marilyn. He also produced and wrote the primetime special Lie Detector. For the Television Academy, Michaels was co-chairman of the Daytime Emmy Awards for more than a decade and served on the board of governors for twelve years, as well as on numerous other committees. He also founded Television Cares, the Academy’s AIDS-awareness committee, which he chaired with honorary co-chair, Angela Lansbury, for ten years. He also conceived and produced the annual Ribbon of Hope Celebration for a decade. He produced and wrote last year’s live Ribbon of Hope event as a special for here! Networks. In addition, he has produced many star-studded charity events, and is director of special events for the Western Region of the Actors Fund, which offers myriad services to all entertainment professionals.
