Tommy Cole, an original Mouseketeer from 1950s television, worked as a singer, dancer and actor until age 24. He then began his award-winning career as a makeup artist, which has garnered him a total of seven Primetime Emmy nominations, including an Emmy win for his makeup design on the highly acclaimed miniseries Backstairs at the White House. He also earned a Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award for his work on Geppetto. Always a union activist, Cole ran for and won the position of Business Representative for Local 706, Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild, in 2003. Now in his second term, he has a full-time job as his union's authority figure interpreting rules and bylaws and giving counsel to an eclectic group of 1,700-plus active members who require answers to questions on a daily basis on a myriad of entertainment-related contracts. In January of 2007 he was appointed by the International IA as a Labor Director/Trustee of the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans. As Cole puts it, “I’m never at a loss for something to do!”
