Ted Barba
California native Ted Barba, who entered the entertainment business in 1979 as an actor, shifted his career focus stunts during his five-year stint with hit television series The Dukes of Hazzard, where he specialized in car jumps. Since then, Barba has appeared in over 250 movies and television shows. In addition to his work as a stuntman, he has evolved as a highly respected stunt coordinator and 2nd unit director—and garnered numerous acting credits, including several co-starring roles. A founding member of the Television Academy’s Stunts Peer Group, Barba served on the World Stunt Awards committee, which evolved into the Taurus World Stunt Awards. He was also a Blue Ribbon Voting Committee organizer for the American Choreography Awards. The Los Angeles Valley College alumnus is an avid baseball player and all-around athlete who skydives, paraglides, races stock cars and enjoys barefoot water skiing.

Nancy L. Thurston
Nancy Thurston is the stunt double for Hayden Panetierre on the NBC series Heroes. She has also had the pleasure of working with Emily Proctor on CSI: Miami. Thurston first set her sights on a career as a professional stuntwoman during her run with the United States High Diving Team. She earned a diving scholarship to Illinois State University and transitioned to a professional team, which helped her follow her dream. A contributing member of the Stuntwomen’s Association for 12 years, she served on its board for nine. She served on the Television Academy’s very first Stunts Peer Group Executive Committee, and in 2006 helped to increase her peer group’s membership by 40 percent. Thurston hosted the Academy’s first Stunt Coordinator Nomination Reception, honoring those who were nominated for an award and thanking those who helped form the Stunt Peer Group and continue to foster its development.
