Christine Z. Wiser was a documentary filmmaker best known for her work with National Geographic, PBS and Wolper Productions. Her films included 1974's The Search for the Great Apes and 1975's The Animals Nobody Loved.
Wiser also worked on the television series documentary In Search Of, as well as an installment of American Experience: Return with Honor, produced and narrated by Tom Hanks. The documentary featured the stories of U.S. pilots who were shot down over North Vietnam and incarcerated in prisons.
In addition, she directed several episodes of The Astronomers, a look at the work of leading scientists.

She earned her master's degree in journalism at American University in D.C., and later interned at NBC's Washington bureau. In 1967, she became a researcher at ABC Documentaries and worked on the four-hour special Africa.
Wiser died October 3, 2017, in Tarzana, California. She was 74.
