Margaret Loesch

Children's and Family entertainment executive Margaret Loesch currently serves on the Board of Directors of Genius Brands International and recently was retained as Executive Chairman of its Kid Genius Cartoon Channel. In this newly-created position, Ms. Loesch provides advice and counsel to the senior management of this rapidly growing Video On Demand Channel, currently available in 50 million U.S. households.

Previously, from 2009 through 2014, Ms. Loesch was the founding President & CEO of The Hub, a television network for kids and their families. The network, rebranded Discovery Family, is a joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro Inc.

The winner of multiple Emmy and other industry awards, Loesch has over four decades of unparalleled success in children's and family entertainment.  Her extensive resume includes the development and/or production of some of the most iconic and successful programs in children's television, such as Smurfs, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Marvel's X-Men, Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, Animaniacs, Transformers, GI Joe, My Little Pony, Batman the Animated Series, and the award-winning pre-school educational series Bear in the Big Blue House, among many others.

Loesch's experience includes the launch and international expansion of Fox Kids Network(s) where she served as President & CEO of Fox Kids Worldwide from 1990-1997. She was also responsible for the creation/launch of the U.S. Hallmark Channel where she was its founding CEO. Prior to her Hallmark position, she was the President of Jim Henson Television, and from 1984 to 1990, Ms. Loesch was President and CEO of Marvel Comics' film production arm, Marvel Productions. In 2003, she co-founded a family media company, The Hatchery LLC, where she served until being tapped by Hasbro/Discovery to launch The Hub. 

Concurrently, she also has served on the board of trustees of Sesame Workshop, producers of educational children's programs, including Sesame Street, and is currently on the advisory board of the Coalition for Quality Children's Media., Ms. Loesch also has served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-Chairman of the board of trustees for the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences Foundation.

Earlier in her career, from 1979 to 1984, she was Executive Vice President of Hanna-Barbera Productions, where she oversaw the development and production of over 500 hours of programming, including Richie Rich, Scooby Doo, The World's Greatest Superfriends and Smurfs; Loesch's prior experience also includes stints with ABC and NBC.,

Among Loesch's industry awards are five Emmy Awards, a George Foster Peabody Award, a Vision Award, and the prestigious Chair Award from the Caucus for Television Producers, Writers, and Directors.
