Sabrina Fair Thomas

Sabrina Fair Thomas was a television executive who worked for several years as general manager for PBS station KLCS, a non-commercial educational television station licensed to the Los Angeles Unified School District. At KLCS, she was responsible for development and acquisition, scheduling, broadcast operations, production and on-air promotions.

An experienced media professional with an extensive background in educational public television, Thomas also served on the board of American Women in Radio and Television.

An experienced media professional with an extensive background in educational public television, Thomas also served on the board of American Women in Radio and Television.

Thomas first entered the television industry at the age of 16 as a writer, reporter and anchor for Student News, an Emmy Award-winning series produced by local journalism protégés. She oversaw the production of several Emmy-winning and -nominated series, and was dedicated to ensuring equal access to the educational opportunities provided by television and new public media.

For the Television Academy, Thomas was a member of the Los Angeles Area Peer Group Executive Committee for six years and served two terms as the peer group's governor.

Thomas died on October 20, 2016, in Los Angeles.

In a message to her LAUSD colleagues at the time of Thomas's passing, the district's superintendent, Michelle King, said:

"I am deeply saddened to notify you that one of our family members, Mrs. Sabrina Thomas, our cherished general manager at KLCS TV, has passed away. Sabrina possessed an unmatched warmth for those around her, a tireless passion for her work and her team, and an enduring faith.  She was part of the L.A. Unified family for many years, and during her tenure, she became an icon in the District.  Sabrina was a rock for many, and her legacy and spirit will continue to uplift the District for years to come. Our hearts go out to the Thomas family, the KLCS family and everyone who knew and loved Sabrina."
