Scott Cosgrove was a stunt coordinator best known for his work on the teen dystopian films Insurgent and The Hunger Games. He was also a world-class mountain climber and rigging specialist.

Cosgrive's other film credits included Lone Survivor, with Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Emile Hirsch; Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie; North Country, with Charlize Theron, Jeremy Renner and Frances McDormand; 300, starring Gerard Butler; Live Free or Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis; Rush Hour 3, with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker; TRON: Legacy, with Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde; The Expendables 2, with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Willis; and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, starring Ben Stiller.

He also contributed to television, including work as a stunt performer on Kirstie Alley’s sitcom Fat Actress; as a stunt technician on the reality series Fear Factor; and a stunts credit on the HBO series True Blood.

Additionally, Cosgrove was the owner of the company California Mountain Guides, and had completed some of the most difficult climbs in the world, including the south face of Yosemite’s Half Dome and the Central Tower of Paine in Chile. He completed more than 400 first ascents.

Cosgrove died February 23, 2016, in Calabasas, California. He was 52.
