Network executives, noted scholars and more examined “The Changing Face of Diversity on Television: A New Urban Reality” during this keynote panel, held Nov. 4, 2006, as part of the Next TV conference. (Click or scroll down to see photos below.)

Featuring television industry and media professionals, daylong forum Next TV sought to provide attendees with tools and information necessary to compete in today’s evolving telecommunications landscape.

Candace Bond McKeever, Television Academy Diversity Committee Chair, and BET Entertainment President Reginald Hudlin produced the "Changing Face of Diversity" keynote session, focusing on the reality of diversity in the television industry and the impact of new media in lowering the traditional barriers to entry.

Writer-filmmaker Nelson George moderated the discussion with a distinguished panel including:
  • Mara Brock Akil - Executive Producer, CW series Girlfriends
  • Eddie Arnold - Vice President Government Affairs, Nielsen Media Research
  • Payne Brown - Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Comcast Corporation
  • Vic Bulluck - Executive Director, NAACP Hollywood Division
  • Dr. Michael Eric Dyson - Professor, University of Pennsylvania, Humanities and Professor of Religious Studies and Africana Studies; and the Avalon Foundation
  • Reginald Hudlin - President, BET Entertainment
