![]() Welcome ... to the first issue of what we hope to be many Archive of American Television journals. We've created this journal to provide a sampling of the television history we are committed to preserving. The Archive of American Television was established by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation in an effort to preserve television's rich and detailed history. It is the Archive's intent to preserve visual conversations with hundreds of individuals in the television industry who made a lasting impact. Eventually, future generations will be able to access this historic multimedia archive, learning how it all started and evolved -- from those truly responsible. We are in a race against time to record firsthand accounts of the men and women responsible for the birth and continuing evolution of television. We all have a stake in its creation and preservation. Please help make it happen. Sincerely,
Thomas W. Sarnoff President Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation
