Emerging TV Technologies

Part 1 - Written Essay
Identify a nationally distributed television program which is currently airing (broadcast or broadband) that does not have a companion interactive component, and then address how and why an interactive element would successfully extend the program's brand and audience.

Some topics for discussion might include:

*            Why create an interactive presence for this show?
*            What needs/concepts might the concept satisfy?
*            Who benefits most, and why: consumers, networks, businesses?
*            Ideation and execution: What works and what doesn't?
*            How would you integrate the interactive content into the program?
*            Does the interactive content influence or change the show's core concept?
*            Single vs. multiple screens: What is the right amount of information?
*            ROI: Subscriptions & eCommerce? Brand awareness? Cross promotion?
*            Viewer retention: What will keep end-users coming back?
*            Demographics: Does the content have a limited or wide appeal?
*            Wireless extensions of the brand: Wi-Fi, PDAs & cellular phones.
*            What's next: Can you show us something we've never seen before?
