COMEDIAN CARLOS MENCIA TO HOST THE
2007 PRIMETIME CREATIVE ARTS EMMY® AWARDS

John Moffitt, Lee Miller and Spike Jones, Jr. return to produce the show, happening
Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Shrine and airing Sept. 15 on E!

North Hollywood, CA, August 27, 2007 Comedian Carlos Mencia will host the 2007 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards on Saturday, September 8 from the historic Shrine Auditorium. Lee Miller and John Moffitt, executive producers of the Creative Arts show, announced Mencia's confirmation today.  

The show will air as a 2-hour special on E! on September 15 at 8:00 p.m. Spike Jones Jr. returns to produce the show for his thirteenth year. 
 
"Carlos Mencia is poignant, provocative and damn funny," said Jones.  "As host of the Creative Arts Emmys, Carlos will keep everyone in the audience on the edge of his or her seat – especially the censor.  We're all thrilled to work with him and look forward to a great show."

More about Carlos Mencia

Mencia currently stars in Comedy Central's "Mind of Mencia" which he also writes for and executive produces.  He is best known for his numerous comedy specials, including two half-hour HBO specials and Comedy Central's "Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached." 

This fall, Mencia will star in the Farrelly Borthers' feature film release "The Heartbreak Kid" for Dreamworks opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan.  In addition, Mencia will head-line a nationwide comedy tour titled "Carlos Mencia Live Presented by Bud Light."

Spike Jones, Jr.

Spike Jones, Jr., returns to produce the Creative Arts Emmys for his thirteenth year.

Through his company SJ2 Entertainment, Spike Jones, Jr. has established himself as a leading player in the areas of awards shows and live TV variety shows. 

Jones produced award ceremonies for the Museum of Television & Radio in both New York and Los Angeles.

as well as live red carpet arrivals for 2007 and 2006 Independent Spirit Awards for the WE Network and Spike TV's Video Game Awards Arrivals and After Bash. 

Jones has a long line of credits with the major networks. Plus, he has produced and directed projects for HBO, Oxygen, Showtime, A&E Networks, MTV, VH1, History Channel, Spike TV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and TV Land. 
                                                                                   
Lee Miller

Lee Miller is co-chair of the 2007 Creative Arts Awards and serves on the Television Academy's Executive Committee.  He has had a varied career in television with credits in series, specials, sitcoms and made-for-television movies. 

Miller has served as producer, director, and associate producer on specials starring Cher, Doris Day, Garth Brooks and on such events as the Tony Awards, The Academy Awards, People's Choice Awards, Special Olympics and seventeen Jerry Lewis MDA telethons. 

John Moffitt.

John Moffitt, a Governor of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, is nominated this year for an Emmy for producing the HBO special "Jerry Seinfield The Comedian Award."  He recently directed an HBO Comedy Hour "Bill Mahr: The Decider."   He also executive produced the TBS comedy special on global warming awareness, "Earth to America," and directed “The Hollow Men,” a sketch comedy series for Comedy Central. 

In addition, Moffitt, along with partner Pat Tourk Lee, has produced two Primetime Emmy Awards shows and won an Emmy for directing one of them. Since 1986, Moffitt and Lee have produced all nine Comic Relief shows featuring a veritable "who's who" of comedy hosted by Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams.

Creative Arts Emmy® Awards

The 2007 Creative Arts Awards will present Emmys in 75 categories including those given for Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Reality Series. 

In addition, the Engineering Awards and the Interactive Media Awards will be announced during this year’s show along with the prestigious Governors Award.
