VICTORIA SMART PROMOTED TO DIRECTOR, MEMBERSHIP
DEPARTMENT FOR THE ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES;
BARBARA CHASE ASSUMES NEW ROLE
North Hollywood, CA, Dec. 10, 2007 Victoria Smart has been promoted from Manager to Director of the Membership Department for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, it was announced today by Alan Perris, COO of the Television Academy. In her new role, Smart will oversee all aspects of the Membership Department including member recruitment and outreach, annual elections for the Television Academy’s Board of Governors, verification of Emmy voter eligibility, and administration of the Membership staff. She will also serve as the staff liaison with the Academy’s Membership Committee Chair and each governor on matters involving individual peer group membership.
“Since joining the Television Academy, Victoria has proven to be an extremely effective and dedicated individual,” said Perris in making the announcement. “Her work in the membership department has been outstanding and we are confident that she will excel in this expanded role.”
The promotion comes at a time of increased Peer Group events, mixers and Nominee Receptions and other special projects. These will now be handled by the out-going Membership Director, Barbara Chase who is assuming a new position as Executive Producer of Special Projects. In her new capacity, Chase will also oversee the popular All-Academy mixers.
“Barbara has done a great job as Director of Membership for the past seven years, and we are lucky to have her in this new endeavor,” said Perris.
