AS HOST OF THE TELEVISION ACADEMY FOUNDATION'S
29th COLLEGE TELEVISION AWARDS


Black-Tie Gala to Honor Student Winners on March 15, 2008

North Hollywood, CA Tom Bergeron, host of ABC's Primetime Emmy®-nominated series Dancing With the Stars, will emcee the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation’s 29th College Television Awards Gala. Terri Clark, Executive Director for the Television Academy Foundation, announced Bergeron's return today.

The students recognized for their outstanding work will be honored at the invitation-only ceremony on Saturday, March 15 at Culver Studios. 

The winning entries will be showcased at the annual College Television Awards Festival on Sunday, March 16 beginning at 4:30 PM at the Television Academy Foundation’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, which is open free to the public.

“I'm thrilled to be back as host of the College Television Awards," said Daytime Emmy® Award winner Bergeron.  "These talented students are the industry's leaders of the future so I might as well start kissing up to them now!"

Bergeron began his broadcasting career in 1972 in his hometown of Haverhill, MA.  He spent over a decade with WBZ-TV in Boston, hosting a number of popular shows.

In 1994 he became host of Breakfast Time on FX. The show morphed into Fox After Breakfast and eventually moved to the FOX network.  In 1997, Bergeron became fill-in anchor on Good Morning America, a position he held until segueing to Hollywood Squares in 1998. 

While hosting Hollywood Squares, Bergeron multi-tasked his way into a fill-in anchor gig on CBS' The Early Show and in 2001 also began hosting ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos. 

In 2005, Bergeron was co-host on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and in 2006 he was elected national vice president of the Association.   He is also the 2007 March of Dimes WalkAmerica spokesperson.

The College Television Awards is one of several ongoing programs supported by the Television Academy’s Foundation, which was established in 1959.
