Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice
Television Writing-Film Program & Theatre Program - Columbia University, School of the Arts
The Film and Theatre Programs in the School of the Arts at Columbia University seek to fill a joint position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice (practice faculty), specializing in television writing, to teach graduate level courses to both screenwriters and playwrights, effective July 1, 2017. The MFA Film Program offers a concentration in screenwriting, and the MFA Theatre Program offers a concentration in playwriting. The programs aim to attract candidates who have extensive professional experience in the television industry and teaching experience.
Candidates for Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice of the Arts must have a demonstrated capacity for creative work and exhibit the potential for continuing to make significant contributions to their areas of professional practice and accompanying pedagogy.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required. Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred. Candidates would ideally have experience working, teaching and advising in feature film screenwriting as well. Experience working in new media is also a plus.
The ideal candidate would have teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate level.
Salary and rank commensurate with experience.
