BRUCE GOWERS TO DIRECT THE
59TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS
Telecast Airs Live Sunday, September 16, on FOX
North Hollywood, CA, July 17, 2007 Two-time Emmy Award® recipient Bruce Gowers will direct the 59TH Primetime Emmy Awards, executive producer Ken Ehrlich announced today. The show will air Sunday, Sept. 16 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
“This is Bruce’s second time directing the 59 TH Primetime Emmy Awards and we are looking forward to working with him again to create a dynamic Emmy telecast,” said Ehrlich. "Bruce is very talented and experienced at directing live events, and he always brings fresh ideas to the table. I have no doubt he will help make the 59 TH Primetime Emmy Awards a memorable evening.”
Gowers, who is best known for his work on the FOX hit series "American Idol," came to the U.S. in the late 1970s after creating and directing some of the music industry’s most remembered music videos, including Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Rod Stewart’s “Tonight’s the Night.”
His directing credits include television shows such as "Celebrity Duets," "So You Think You Can Dance" and "American Juniors."
In addition, he has directed numerous awards shows including "The 57th Primetime Emmy Awards," “Kid’s Choice Awards," "The Billboard Music Awards,” “The American Music Awards,” "The MTV Movie Awards” and “The People’s Choice Awards.”
He has directed specials for artists including Prince, Britney Spears, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and others. Gowers is the recipient of a Directors Guild of America award, multiple ACE and Monitor Awards and an NAACP Image Award, among others.
The 59 TH Primetime Emmy Awards is being produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures LLC.
Nominations for the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced Thursday, July 19, at 5:35 AM PT from the Television Academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
