Mark Itkin named Chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame selection committee

North Hollywood, CA, July 31, 2007 – Mark Itkin, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Co-Head of Television, William Morris Agency (WMA), has been appointed the new chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

“It gives us great pleasure to name Mark as the new chairman of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee,” said Television Academy chairman and CEO Dick Askin, who announced the appointment today. "We are confident that he will do an excellent job in heading up this esteemed group."

"In this position," Askin continued, "Mark will play an important role in preserving and honoring the rich history of the television industry."

In June of 2006, Tom Brokaw, James Burrows, Leonard Goldberg, Regis Philbin and William Shatner were the latest Hall of Fame inductees.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame honors individuals or programs that have made outstanding contributions in the arts, sciences or management of telecommunications.

Past inductees to the Hall of Fame include, Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Bob Mackie, Jean Stapleton, Bud Yorkin, Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Walter Cronkite, Walt Disney, Leonard H. Goldenson, Bob Hope, Mary Tyler Moore, Edward R. Murrow, General David Sarnoff, Barbara Walters, Angela Lansbury, Oprah Winfrey, Carl Reiner and Fred Rogers.
