Me and My Emmy: Kirsten Sage Coleman

The make-up artist never expected her career to lead to winning an Emmy.

Emmy Tally: One

How She Got the Gold: For Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) in 2020, for Euphoria.

Now for the Noms: Coleman won on her first nomination.

Home State: "When we were announced as winners, I went into a state of shock. It was during quarantine, and I was with family and friends at my parents' house. I could not imagine a better way to experience winning an Emmy. Being surrounded by the people closest to me was such a joy."

Parental Pride: "Right now my Emmy statuette is at my parents' house. They are so proud of it, and it looks better on their mantel. I get to see it when I visit."

Makeup Call: "I loved makeup ever since I saw the Kevyn Aucoin books as a child. When I stepped foot on an indie film set, I fell in love with the insanity. Winning awards never occurred to me — I just wanted to help tell stories with makeup. To be honored for simply doing my job as best as I can is a cherry on top. To be honest, it still hasn't fully sunk in that I won an Emmy."

High Note: "Being part of a collaborative process is like being in a band, and when everyone is hitting the notes at the right time, it gives you that creative high that is hard to beat. I've made lifelong friends working long, hard hours with my peers."
