Kevin McCarthy, Veteran Actor Known for Features and Decades of Television
McCarthy starred in the classic sci-fi film Invasion of the Body Snatchers and was a TV fixture for decades, with several series regular roles.
Kevin McCarthy, an actor whose career spanned more than 60 years, and is perhaps best remembered for the classic science fiction film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, died September 11, 2010, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He was 96.
According to news reports, he died of natural causes.
Over the course of his distinguished career, McCarthy appeared in hundreds of films and television shows, starting in 1945.
In addition to Body Snatchers, McCarthy was known for his role as Biff in the film adaptation of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. He was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar and won a Golden Globe for that performance.
His vast television credits included regular roles on such series as Flamingo Road, Amanda's, The Colbys and Bay City Blues. He also had guest roles on dozens of series, from the golden age of the medium to the 21st century.
McCarthy married actress Augusta Dabney in 1941; they divorced in 1961.
Survivors include his second wife, Kate Crane, as well as three daughters, two sons, a stepdaughter and three grandchildren.
