Lisa Blount, Actress in Memorable Features and TV Series, Dies at 53

Best remembered as Debra Winger’s friend in An Officer and a Gentleman, Blount also co-starred in the Fox show Profit and produced an Oscar-winning short.

Lisa Blount, an actress known for the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman and numerous guest roles on television series, was found dead on October 25, 2010, at her home in Little Rock, Arkansa. She was 53.

According to news reports, Blount had suffered from a condition similar to multiple sclerosis for 17 years and had complained recently of back and neck pain.

Blount, who was born on July 1, 1957, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, earned a Golden Globe nomination as new star of the year for her performance in An Officer and a Gentleman, which also starred Richard Gere and Louis Gossett, Jr.

Other features films included Great Balls of Fire and Femme Fatale.

In 2001, she won an Oscar as producer of The Accountant, a short film that starred her husband, actor Ray McKinnon.

She made numerous television appearances over the years, including co-starring role on the Fox series Profit as well as guest spots on such series as Murder, She Wrote, Picket Fences, Moonlighting and Judging Amy.

She is survived by her husband, mother, father and brother.
