Danny Murphy was an actor best known for his appearances in several movies directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, whom he befriended when they were children.

Murphy became a quadriplegic after a diving accident in Martha’s Vineyard when he was 19 years old. He went on to become a disability advocate later in life, working in the interest of disabled performers. He served as vice chair of the Screen Actors Guild Performers with Disabilities Committee, and he co-founded a theater company for performers with disabilities.

He began acting in his early forties, when the Farrellys cast him as the Beaver Valley Bowl Manager in their 1996 comedy Kingpin. He also appeared in There's Something About Mary, Me, Myelf & Irene, Shallow Hal, Stuck on You and Dumb and Dumber To.

His work in entertainment also included some small parts on television, including programs such as Fastlane, Wanted, American Body Shop and Unhitched.

Murphy died August 8, 2014, in Florida. He was 59.
