Celebrated American actor Louis Gossett Jr. is widely known for his roles in such films as Enemy Mine, Iron Eagle, Half-Life 2, and As Officer and a Gentleman — a role that earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In 1977, Gossett starred as “Fiddler” in the perennial ABC television miniseries Roots, earning a Primetime Emmy Award for his powerful performance.

More recently, Gossett has guest-starred on such television series as Extant, Boardwalk Empire, Family Guy and The Batman.  He also held a recurring role on Touched by an Angel, played “Isom Pickett” in several episodes of Return to Lonesome Dove and portrayed “Gerak” on sci-fi series Stargate SG-1.

Among his numerous film credits, Gossett’s work includes prominent roles in such features as A Raisin In The Sun, Skin Game, Travels with My Aunt, The Laughing Policemen, The Deep, Jaws 3-D, Toy Soldiers and The Punishers.

Among his theatrical credits, Gossett has starred in the stage production of A Raisin in the Sun, Take a Giant Step, among other plays.

In 2015, Gossett appeared in The Book of Negroes.
